She's off to Tampa!

Karli left for Tampa bright and early Monday morning. April 15th. 2013.  She was

 able to call us from the SLC airport before she left.  We didn't even care that she called

 at 5 am- it was great to talk with her.  She sounded excited and a bit nervous!
After a stopover in Atlanta- she landed in Tampa at 3:07 pm on Monday.  

We haven't heard from her yet, but thanks to a Tampa mission blog kept by
 Sister Summerhays,  the Mission President's wife,
we have proof that she made it there safely.

Twenty seven missionaries and six couples arrived on Monday.

The mission home fed them all...and

kept them overnight!  Where do you put 39 house guests?  Yikes!

After some training meetings the next day- they met their trainers and
went on their way to their new areas!  This is the new group of elders
and sisters! Karli is near the front in the blue polka-dot shirt!

So it's official now- Karli is in Tampa and we can  put her
 mission plaque up at church-  (we just received it in the mail)

She is the only missionary right now serving from our ward!

Here is where the hard work begins!
Tracting- riding bikes and trying to understand Spanish and speak it! 

We hope at her first door approach she doesn't encounter an investi-GATOR like this!

This alligator head is courtesy of Gary's mission souvenirs-- it always used to creep Karli out.  Gary and Kelli knew that and whenever they would visit they would always leave it on her bed with a funny note in it's mouth or a hat on it's head or something else clever when they left.
She grew to like that alligator and look forward to their "farewell tricks"

Hopefully she'll feel the same way if she meets one in Tampa!
