Prom is upon us- in a little less than 2 weeks to be exact-
but then whose counting? Karli is- that's who.The theme for prom
this year is an enchanted garden theme entitled:
"Happily Ever After"
Yeah- pretty girly, I know-there is one guy on the prom committee- and he never stood a chance. As an officer in the Jr. class, Karli and her fellow officers have the opportunity burden of planning the event. Unfortunately that burden has pretty much rested squarely on Madam Secretary's shoulders, A.K.A. Karli! She has booked the venue, ordered tokens for royalty, met with the photographer, planned table decor, taken care of all the PO's, as well other various and sundry duties. Just yesterday her fellow officers said, "Wow, prom is getting close- we should probably do some planning and stuff! Hmmm- ya think?
Yeah - this is all so much fun!
Which brings me to prom invitations. This is a subject dear to my heart, as two weeks ago, Karli, in an absolute panic, said we have to order invitations- NOW! I spent the next two afternoons scouring the Internet for possibilities. I finally found a design that met with her stamp of approval-which basically was- "I really don't care what they look like- just order them!" So order we did.

Let me just mention that nowadays no flimsy little note card will do for prom invites. No- prom invites now are like a keepsake...a memento of "that magical night to remember". Each year invitations get fancier and and more elaborate. We're talking vellum, gold, ribbons, pop up, etc. So what to do on a limited budget? Vellum and glitter to the rescue. Don't you agree that everything looks better in glitter and vellum? So we junked the tacky off -white paper envelopes that came with the invitations for (get this) "blush translucent envelopes- guaranteed to add that elegant touch to all your personal communication". Gary could not fathom how we would buy 500 more envelopes when we had perfectly good ones going to waste. PUH-leeze! Sometimes I shudder to think what would happen to prom if men were left in charge.
The 500th invitation completed- Hallelujah!!
The irony of all this is - is that Karli will not be attending prom herself. The guy she really wants to go with is out of town that particular weekend. She absolutely detests school dances- so she is actually pretty psyched about missing it- even has her evening planned- a bubble bath and movie. Yeah- prom really is a "magical night"!
After all this- I better get asked to prom. Hmm- do you think being asked to chaperone counts?

They look gRRReat...and even though they were a hassle it sounds like you had some fun with that glitter spray along your way! I wish my yard glittered like Edward Cullen! hehehe! Good job and enjoy your prom nights, however you choose to spend them!
