The Party Continues!

August 13, 2011
Porterville, CA

After a short honeymoon in San Diego, Marty and Sarah were ready to party
again at their wedding reception in Porterville.  It's funny how after months of planning,
shopping, and hours of decorating, how quickly a reception is over.   Many friends helped
with decorating and serving food, for which we were so grateful.

Sarah wanted sort of a" sophisticated homespun" reception, with a vintage feel-
We wanted to create the feel of an outdoor patio at twilight-
hopefully we delivered. When the guest arrived we dimmed the lights and with the
cooler gently blowing the crepe paper - it really did look a little like a cool
summer night out on the patio and with the cooler not working too well, it
unfortunately felt a little like a warm summer night in Porterville!

Take a look at things just before the guests arrived

We decorated with beautiful salmon colored roses from Ecuador- quite fitting since
Marty served a mission there!

Next to  the vintage suitcase, we displayed wedding photos from
grandparents and great grandparents

This is the darling dessert table that a friend decorated for me.  We served a variety of sweets- warmed Belgian waffles with fresh berries and whipped cream or sweet syrups, lemon mini cupcakes, homemade chocolate chip cookies, cream puffs, and french macaroons.  Please ignore the garbage can in the background--that was NOT supposed to be in the cultural hall.  OOPS!

We also served relish trays, fresh fruit, meat and cheese croissants,
tortilla wraps, and  fresh lemonade

We had a slide show of Sarah and Marty running throughout the evening and our missionary, Elder Miller, even made an appearance at the reception.
Guests could send him their best wishes

A fun addition to the reception was an old fashioned photo booth where
guests could dress up and have their picture taken

This one was actually taken at the wedding luncheon in San Diego
There are lots more fun photo booth photos that we will post when we get a copy of them.

It was a great celebration and we are so happy for Marty and Sarah.
We wish them a wonderful future together!
