Man vs. Nature --starring Gary Miller

Just before Easter we headed down to San Diego to help Grandpa and Grandma with some yard work.  If you've read the blog- you'll remember that last year Gary tackled some pampas grass and came down with a nasty case of poison oak.  He's never forgiven that poison oak bush and was determined this time to take that beast out for once and for all.  Here's the bush that was growing wild in his Dad's yard.

And here's Gary ready to tackle it in his disposable "Hazmat" suit!
He looks like a cast member of the "Chainsaw Massacre" movie!

 And here we go...

His Dad had sprayed it with weed killer- but as you can see the top of the
bush is still green and "deadly"!

After over an hour of buzzing- it looked like this.
Gary got it down to the stump- which he doused with poison.

But the job wasn't finished- now to get all the clippings rolled and
raked down into the canyon.  He raked and he rolled for a long time
and all the while Gary's Dad was working away too.
Here, Grandpa is nearly 92 yr.s old and he can pretty much outwork any of us!
 Amazing!

Gary finally got frustrated with his raking and sat down and pushed
the mass down the canyon with his feet and body.

This is how he felt after he finally had it down the canyon!

What a job!  Man vs. Nature?  Man won- well almost!
Gary did break out with poison oak a day later on his face and a couple of days
later on his forearms and legs. Apparently the disposable suit was not fool proof.
He itched a lot and it was uncomfortable- but not half as bad as it was last year-
so all in all I think Man (Gary) won!
Way to go Gary!
Next job- dig that stump out!
